We Have Seats!
Multi-Adventure Touring at it's most fun!- Small Group (2 or more) Prices save some moneyNow we have Viking Challenge North that offers active travelers and sports-people even more fun and excitement, in a different part of this beautiful country from the Original Viking Challenge (South) The Viking Challenge North is a bit more demanding and so works for folks who are in (or can get themselves into) reasonably good shape. A little more demanding, but, you get to have some fun in the North. The Northern Challenge is based in cottages on the edge of a beautiful valley famed worldwide for its horses. There's always snow on the surrounding peaks. Neither Viking Challenge Tour demands any great skills in the various activities, but the Northern tour offers activities that are a bit more, well, more challenging. Both include all safety equipment needed for the activities. Novices will do just fine with a sense of adventure, moderately good health and having a yen to experience something new in an exciting land. This is for those who are up (and fit) for some real adventure! You'll see glaciers and hot springs, you'll experience rafting on the mighty Jokulsa River, riding Icelandic horses in the valley most famous for its horses, visit an island teeming with birdlife and try your skill at fishing in an Icelandic fjord not far below the Arctic Circle. This tour runs from Friday to Tuesday in Iceland. Our tour package gets travelers to Reykjavik early on Thursday morning and gives them a day to rest up before they take The Viking Challenge North. Friday: Walking in Borgarfjordur Travel from Reykjavik to Borgarfjordur with a visit to the beautiful waterfalls of Hraunfossar, where the water comes running from under the lava and into the Hvita river. Later in the day there will be a visit to Deildartunguhver, one of the most voluminous hot springs in Europe, Today's walk will be approximately 3-4 hours. Saturday: Walking on Maelifell and Rafting on the Jokulsa In the morning it's a climb to the summit of Maelifell mountain (1147m) to overlook the beautiful Skagafjordur countryside and the central highlands. Then comes some white river rafting - through the exciting gorges on Jokulsa River for approximately 3 hours with seasoned river guides. End the day with a traditional Icelandic barbecue. Sunday Skagafjordur Horses - Drangey Island - Sea Fishing A 3 hour horse back riding tour through the beautiful Skagafjordur area starts today's action. In the afternoon it's a boat trip to the island of Drangey which is famous for its density of nesting bird life. During the boat trip you will have an opportunity to try your luck at some sea fishing in these cold northern waters known for their abundance. Should the weather not allow the sailing to Drangey there will be a visit to one of the most beautiful valleys in the North of Iceland and take a walk up to Lake Hraunsvatn. Monday Kjolur -Hveravellir - Gullfoss - Geysir - Reykjavik The day starts with a visit to the folk museum at Glaumbaer, an excellent example of an old manor house, built mostly of earth. A stop by the majestic waterfall Gullfoss and Iceland's most famous spouting hot spring at Geysir.
