HUNAVATN, The name means Lake of the Bear cub, an ancient name thoughr ro refer to a Polar Bear cub found here that was captured and sent to the King of Denmark. Polar Bears, on rare occassions, reach Iceland on drifting Ice from Greenland.
Resting before we cross the fjord over Hunavatn. Ingolfur has guided us on several tours. He now owns Dyrfinnustadir, a farm that sits high up the hillside above Skagafjodur, with some of the most amazing sunsets ever, visible from their kitchen window.
