Thorgeir was the Lawgiver in the year 1000. He was expected to decided on whether Iceland would become a Christian country or keep its allegiance to the Gods of its fathers. The Pope's ban on trade with "infidels", or the like, had pretty much swept all of Northern Europe into Christianity, and the trade and commerce that went with it. Thorgeir decided on the side of Christianity.
