Iceland is a surprisingly short distance from North America. It's 5 or 6 hours from the east coast of the US.. It's only a few hours from most of Europe. Americans and most Europeans don't need visas, (you do need a passport, though). We are over there several times a year traveling into favorite and new-to-us places. We can help when you're thinking of a trip but have a few questions. When we're there we spend time with our guides and outfitters but we spend much of our time as tourists, discovering and exploring and doing. We keep the traveler's perspective and we work hard to make that outlook the basis for our services to our clients. We look at the quality of lodgings, the knowledge of tour guides, the routes between attractions, the birds, the glaciers...
We'd like to help set up your trip. And we can give you the information you need to make your trip easy, You can just have fun and explore. The scheduled flight time from Boston is less than 6 hours! JFK, BWI and Minneapolis / St. Paul all have flight times of just over 6 hours. From the US flights to Iceland leave in the evening between 7 and 9 pm. California flights leave San Francisco at 11:30 am and arrive 2:30 We include airfare in most of our tours. On many of Horses North's horse back riding tours, and some of the guided coach tours, the cost of everything is included except for a few meals and taxes (usually $120 or so), the price for some of the tours includes every thing you'll need from the time you get on the airplane in the US until you get off again on the return flight. Check the individual itineraries for the specifics. When you use our services to advise you and arrange your trip you'll get our guidance both before and during your trip. We hear from our clients that our itineraries have been very reassuring and have given them just the sort of directions they needed.
Travel to and from the European Mainland SOME OF THE DETAILS for your trip We write out complete itineraries that tell you the details - where you'll be met, some tips on exploring in downtown Reykjavik, where to get the best chocolate. We make every effort to get this into your hands as soon as possible so you can go over maps and guide books - planning and anticipation can be part of travelling to some of us! Vouchers are used as payment for accommodations, transportation and activities, and the vouchers list the services or accommodations and include phone numbers. For traveling you'll need a passport and Government issued Photo ID (for most of us this is our driver's license) to clear airport security. If you don't have a passport yet you can apply at County Clerk's Offices or, in smaller towns, the Post Offices can handle it. After you land in Iceland gather your luggage and pass customs you are either met by your outfitter in the lobby, get the keys to your rental car, or you step out the door and onto the "Flybus" that delivers travelers to hotels and guesthouses in Reykjavik and Hafnafjordur. You'll have a voucher to pay for this transfer. $$$$$$$$$$$ After we have worked out most of the details of what you want to do and have reserved your spaces on tours, airline tickets, lodgings, etc. we require a $300 deposit for each traveler. Payment can be by check or credit card. We don't need payment up front for airline tickets and the tickets are not "fly-or-die". We can often alter travel dates to accommodate availability or some unforeseen change in plans, if circumstances allow and it's early enough. Sixty days before your departure date we will expect the balance. We won't automatically charge anything without communicating with you to see how you want to pay.
FLIGHT TIMES COMING BACK TO THE US
When you're finished with your time in Iceland and have had all the fun you can stand, you'll drive, or take the Flybus from Reykjavik, to the airport in Keflavik. The Flybus picks up in Reykjavik at various stops in town at around 2 pm and the flights to the US leave between 4:30 and 5 PM. San Francisco flights leave at the same time and arrive in California at 6:40 pm If you have a rental car in Iceland we can set it up for return at the airport. A popular way out to the airport includes a stop at the Blue Lagoon and we can set up a couple of activities around that, or you can just drop in. DON'T relax into missing your plane! (Actually no one's done that, yet) Get home, settle down, drop your film off to be printed and start gloating to your friends. It'll be easy. FLIGHT TIMES GOING ON TO EUROPE If you've chosen to go on to Europe after a time in Iceland (easily arranged) you have a choice of an early morning or an afternoon flight. The early flights are around 7 am (for which you get on the Flybus in Reykjavik at 5 am), afternoon flights are around 5 pm. We're your connection to Iceland
