Plus several guided day tours included (with very proficient and knowledgeable guides)

4 Days 3 Nights – We can easily extend or modify your trip
Here's a daily itinerary.

Day Zero

Leave US

from Boston, New York, Minneapolis, Orlando or San Francisco. An overnight flight to Leifur Eriksson Airport in Keflavik, Iceland.

Day One

Welcome to Iceland!

You'll have a ticket for the Flybus shuttle which will take you from Keflavik Airport and deliver you to your hotel or guesthouse in Reykjavik. You'll have the day to enjoy Iceland's capitol, visit museums, shops and some of the many fine coffee houses, and restaurants. Maybe you'll want to have a very Icelandic experience and spend some time at one of the city's geothermally heated swimming pools. Icelanders swim outside, all year long, (and never, never in unheated water!)

We’ll provide lots of ideas for things to do and see, and for lunch and dinner, which is part of the fun!

Day Two

Reykjavik and the Blue Lagoon

Your morning starts with a 3 hour Reykjavík city tour. A visit is made to the current home of the world's oldest parliament. There's a stop at the towering church Hallgrímskirkja on top of the hill in the center of town, and then the lake where you may be hit up by some of the zillions of panhandling ducks. You'll see modern suburbs contrasting with the older parts of the city with their colorful little houses and much more. The afternoon is free for shopping and sight-seeing in Reykjavík city center. At 6 you'll set off for an evening tour to the Blue Lagoon. A drive through rough lava fields leads to the Blue Lagoon where you can soak in a rejuvenating geothermal wonder. The vivid blue water is naturally rich in minerals believed to have healing powers. There's a great little restaurant here, too. It all makes for a relaxing evening!

Day Three

Golden Circle

Your guide today takes you to some “must see” sights of Iceland today. You’ll be driven through the fertile lowlands of Southern Iceland to visit Gullfoss, one of Iceland’s most magnificent waterfalls. Known as the Queen of Iceland's waterfalls, it thunders over a double cascade in the glacial Hvitá River and if the sun is in the right place ther's a great rainbow. In a little while you’ll continue on to the hot spring area of Geysir, the home of the original boiling water spout, where Strokkur, “the Churn” erupts every 10 minutes or so. You'll visit Thingvellir National Park, which sits atop the North Atlantic ridge and where you can see the edges of the European and American tectonic plates and a nice variety of landforms and water. It's here that the old Viking parliament, the Alþingi, first met in the 9th century, only moving to downtown Reykjavik a century or so ago.
(Additional days could be added to your trip here)

Day Four

Time to say good bye ...(or to keep on going deeper into Iceland!)

The tour ends this morning after breakfast. You’ll have the morning free to explore Reykjavik, to see museums, shops and galleries. The Flybus shuttle will return you to Keflavik International Airport for your late afternoon flight (there’s a bus that includes a few hours at the Blue Lagoon if you need more of that.) OR, you can use this 4 day tour as an introduction and go on to experience some of the many other aspects of this unusual land.

First Class
We can upgrade this tour to include Icelandair Saga Class flights, and have a driver and car take you to and from the airport. Please ask about this.

The Hotels
There are four hotels to chose from and they each have something special about them. All have en suite facilities, and include breakfast as part of the package.

Guest House Borgartun
Open and light with an International feeling, this large guest house is a block up from the bay, and a 25 minute walk along the waterfront to the downtown, or a short cab or bus ride. The staff can help you choose and book additional day tours or any other services.

Hotel Baron or Hotel Lind
These modern and comfortable 3 star hotels are known for their friendly atmosphere, and are part of the well-regarded Fosshotels. They are each close to the main shopping street. Rooms are European style, comfortable, but not large, with private baths, telephone and TV in each room.

Grand Hotel Reykjavik
Built by an American firm with some of the largest rooms in Reykjavik, the Grand exudes quality throughout the hotel. A new "tower" addition, opening in Spring, 2007, will make it even Grander!!!

Reykjavik Centrum
A new hotel. One of the finest in Iceland. On one of the main squares and a short walk to just about everything. There’s even a museum (of an ancient farm that was found during construction) in its basement.
